Cal touts stellar defenders at pro day

Though the school has had mixed results on the field the past few years, Cal has had no trouble churning out top draft picks. In the last two years, the school has produced the likes of RB Jahvid Best, DT Tyson Alualu and DE Cameron Jordan. Cal might not have a player drafted in the first round this year, but there are plenty of defenders who could keep the school’s NFL pipeline going strong.
Here’s a look at some of the top prospects at Cal’s pro day on Wednesday:
D.J. Campbell, S (6-foot-0, 201 pounds) — Campbell posted a 4.51 40-yard dash, 38-inch vertical jump, 10-7 broad jump, 4.22 short shuttle, 7.08 three-cone drill and 22 lifts. As one of the more impressive safeties in the draft, he should be a second-round pick.
Mychal Kendricks, LB (5-11 5/8, 239) — The Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2011, Kendricks ran an impressive 4.14 short shuttle and 6.68 three-cone drill.
Marvin Jones, WR (6-2 1/4, 199) — Jones stood on all of his combine numbers. Though not an elite prospect, he is a good second-tier talent at receiver.
Sean Cattouse, S (6-2 1/2, 201) — Cattouse had a 4.68 40-yard dash, 36-inch vertical jump, 10-4 broad jump, 4.12 short shuttle and 6.91 three-cone drill.
Trevor Guyton, DE (6-2 3/4, 279) — Guyton posted a 31-inch vertical jump, 7.44 three-cone drill and 25 strength lifts.
Mitchell Schwartz, T (6-5 3/8, 318) — Schwartz stood on all of his combine numbers.
