The Chargers have agreed with QB Charlie Whitehurst on a two-year contract for $4 million, including a $1 million signing bonus, according to a league source.
Whitehurst was selected by the Chargers in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft, but San Diego traded him in 2010 to the Seattle Seahawks for a second-round pick.
The Chargers also released QB Billy Volek on Friday, meaning Whitehurst will back up starter Philip Rivers.
