Saints showing interest in LB Lofton

The Saints are showing interest in former Falcons LB Curtis Lofton, according to league sources.
Lofton is also being monitored by another NFC South team — Tampa — although the heavy spending by the Bucs is likely over after landing WR Vincent Jackson, OG Carl Nicks and CB Eric Wright. The Falcons made attempts to bring back Lofton prior to free agency. The Saints have had former Seahawks LB David Hawthorne in for a visit as well, and could end up releasing LB Jonathan Vilma given his current contract, the team’s salary cap situation and the need to sign QB Drew Brees.
The Eagles are also exploring the market for linebackers, which has been slow to develop and could result in several players — London Fletcher, Jameel McClain and Stephen Tulloch for example — returning to their former teams.
