Chargers, WR Royal agree to terms on deal

The Chargers have agreed to terms on a deal with WR Eddie Royal, a league source said Thursday.

The team later confirmed in a release that Royal had agreed to a three-year contract.

A source had previously said that Royal, who had also been in talks with the Redskins, would be visiting San Diego.

The Chargers recently signed former Saints WR Robert Meachem after losing free-agent WR Vincent Jackson to the Buccaneers.

Royal, a second-round pick by the Broncos in the 2008 NFL Draft, had 206 catches for 2,107 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in four seasons in Denver. He had just 155 yards and one touchdown last season.
