Fisher: Titans’ pursuit of Manning ‘makes total sense’

Rams head coach Jeff Fisher worked for Titans owner Bud Adams for many years (17 to be exact), and for him the math involved in the team’s pursuit of Peyton Manning isn’t complicated.
“I think things are quite simple: Mr. Adams wants to win championship,” Fisher told NFL Network on Wednesday. “That’s the bottom line. It’s very, very simple. That’s what I did every morning when I woke up and went to work for him, is try to win a championship. He’s trying to get that accomplished. It makes total sense to me.”
Beyond what’s on the field, Manning has several ties to Tennessee. He played for the Volunteers, and his wife is a Memphis native. There’s also the angle, reported by NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi, that part of the Titans’ pitch could be an offer to make Manning part of the organization after his playing days are over.
Fisher sees the impact of Manning going beyond football.
“This would be huge for the entire state, and it would be great for the organization,” Fisher added. “It’s a team that’s equipped and is very close. It would probably fit Peyton very, very well.”
