The Cowboys landed the cornerback they coveted, agreeing to a five-year contract with Brandon Carr on Wednesday.
The Cowboys have been working toward a deal with Carr since the outset of free agency Tuesday, after releasing Terence Newman. League sources told NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi that Carr’s deal likely would be worth more than $7 million per season.
Carr was the Cowboys’ top target, and this was a deal they had to get done. Carr was a four-year starter for the Chiefs since being a fifth-round draft pick in 2008.
