Mario Williams landed in Buffalo late Tuesday afternoon, a very good sign for long-suffering Bills fans.

The Bills traditionally aren’t heavy players in free agency, so if you’re Williams, and you go to Buffalo for your first visit, and you’re there before the sun goes down, this could be heading toward something substantial.

Other teams are aware of this, too, which explains why you’re not hearing about other clubs in the mix right now.

This doesn’t mean the deal is done, but Buffalo has money to spend and appears ready to spend it. Adding a player of Williams’ ilk instantly would give the Bills’ defense credibility.

One thing is for sure: Williams soon will become one of the richest players in NFL history.
