The New York Giants have agreed to terms on a short-term contract with CB Terrell Thomas, according to a league source. Thomas was set to become a free agent on Tuesday.
Re-signing with New York gives the four-year veteran a chance to return from last season’s torn anterior cruciate ligament, suffered in the preseason. Thomas missed the entire season.
The Giants wanted him back after losing an assortment of injured players to free agency in recent years. Cornerback Aaron Ross is a free agent and likely to depart — Dallas, Washington, San Francisco and Detroit are among the teams looking at corners.
“It’s a GREAT day to be a NEW YORK GIANT!” Thomas tweeted Tuesday morning.
After drafting Thomas in the second-round of the 2008 draft out of USC, the cornerback started all 32 games in 2009 and 2010, pulling in 10 of his 11 career interceptions.
