The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got their man in WR Vincent Jackson, signing him to a five-year deal that will average $12 million over the first three years.

This is Andre Johnson-type money, a fact Jackson probably is very pleased with following years of financial squabbling with the Chargers.

Tampa Bay was aggressive on this move, jumping in right at 4 p.m. ET Tuesday when free agency opened. This caused other teams to back off, with good reason.

The Bucs aren’t done yet, either. They entered free agency with $45 million in salary-cap space, and they’re expecting to make a strong push for standout guard Carl Nicks, who will be at their facility soon.

The Bucs also are interested in CB Eric Wright (who’s also being pursued by the 49ers), and they’re monitoring the status of LB Curtis Lofton.

There’s a new regime in place, and the Bucs are looking to turn over their roster. Jackson represents a key addition for the team: a fast, strong receiver who will be a true asset for young QB Josh Freeman.
