Crick shows strength at Nebraska pro day

Nebraska held its pro day last Thursday, and 13 players worked out indoors on field turf with 15 teams in attendance. Nebraska historically has been a very, very good ground for players to come into NFL because the staff does a good job of coaching them, and the players usually have a really good work ethic.
Jared Crick, DT (6-foot-4 1/2, 276 pounds) — Ran a 4.09-second short shuttle and did 26 strength lifts. Crick didn’t lift at the combine because of a torn pectoral muscle, but 26 lifts is a pretty good number coming off that kind of injury. Crick’s a very competitive but somewhat undersized guy who gets by with quickness. This is a hard guy to say where he’s going to be picked because for two years he put up great numbers and then saw his production slip in a final injury-shortened season.
Lavonte David, LB (6-0 3/4, 227) — Stood on everything from the combine. He’s a player who has got first-round ability. It’s just going to be if people think he can hold up. He’ll probably be a second rounder because of size, but he’ll contribute.
Alfonzo Dennard, CB (5-10 1/4, 202) — Stood on everything from the combine, as well. Some people think he’s a first-round pick. Best way to describe him is he’s a steady guy who runs well but doesn’t have really any exceptional characteristics at his position. He’s a guy who’s probably going to be drafted between No. 25-45.
Marcel Jones, OT (6-foot-6 1/4, 324) — Ran two 5.54-second 40-yard dashes, a 4.93-second short shuttle 7.68-second three-cone drill and had a 8-foot broad jump in addition to his work in position drills. He’s a guy who is probably going to be a priority free agent or a low-round draft choice.
