Steelers’ Tomlin attends Ohio State pro day

Ohio State held its pro day Friday in front of 22 teams, and Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and GM Kevin Colbert, Vikings GM Rick Spielman and Bills GM Buddy Nix.

Six offensive line coaches from around the NFL were there, too, to watch 11 players work out. All of these guys at Ohio State have been well coached, they do well in the positional drills. Eagles LB Brian Rolle — a former Buckeye — was at the pro day encouraging all the guys to perform better and was a big factor in the day.

Mike Adams, OT (6-foot-7 1/8, 323 pounds) — Adams just got measured and worked out in position drills, and he looked good but not exceptional. He’s a good athlete with long arms. One of the things teams are concerned about is his inconsistency, which isn’t something that can be addressed in a pro day work out. If you look his tape from the Nebraska game last season, he looked like a first-round pick. He didn’t look quite as good, however, in the Purdue tape.

Michael Brewster, C (6-4 3/8, 314) — Just did position drills. He’s a third- or fourth-round pick.

Dan Herron, RB (5-9 5/8, 209) — He ran a 4.60- and 4.58-second 40-yard dash, but had a 1.50 10-yard time, which shows pretty good explosion. He did position drills, but those were mostly with him catching the ball out of the backfield. Everybody wants to see if these guys can catch the football. He looked OK.

DeVier Posey, WR (6-1 5/8, 208) — Caught the ball well in position drills. He’s just about what everyone thought he is: a mid-round type of guy.
