The Cardinals, Dolphins, Redskins, Broncos and Seahawks have begun pursuing QB Peyton Manning, league sources said Wednesday.
The Chiefs and others are expected to be in the mix as well.
The teams are moving just hours after the Indianapolis Colts officially announced Manning’s release. The quarterback, who is trying to return to the football field after undergoing multiple neck surgeries and missing the entire 2011 season, has been placed on waivers, league sources said.
A league source said the Broncos called Manning’s representatives Wednesday. Another league source told NFL Network’s Albert Breer that the Seahawks have also initiated contact with the quarterback.
A source with knowledge of the situation said that the Texans are one team that is not interested in Manning. Houston is behind QB Matt Schaub, and is likely to extend his contract.
