Wide receiver Gregory Childs was easily the star of the Arkansas’ pro day on Tuesday.
Childs, who weighed in at 212 pounds, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.40 and 4.39 seconds and impressed NFL observers with his skills during an outstanding position workout. He also had a 40 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-7 broad jump.
Childs likely moved from a fifth-round draft pick to a possible third-round pick.
In all, 19 prospects worked out for representatives of all 32 NFL teams, running indoors on a fast rubber track.
A few other notables:
Jake Bequette, DE (270 pounds) — Did position workouts only because of a pectoral problem.
Joe Adams, WR (188) — Ran 4.46 and 4.47 in the 40 and had a 38-inch vertical. Went through position workouts.
Jerry Franklin, LB (6-1, 242) – Franklin did a full workout after not attending the combine. Ran 4.70 and 4.68 in the 40. Had a 37 1/2-inch vertical, 10-3 broad jump, 6.98-second three-cone drill and did 15 reps in the bench press.
One interesting note: Arkansas alum and Patriots 2011 third-round draft pick Ryan Mallett threw to the receivers during the workouts, and looked very good doing so.
