The Dallas Cowboys have used their franchise tag on LB Anthony Spencer, a team source said Monday.
The team reportedly has been weighing the option of using the tag on Spencer since February, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, which cited a team source.
By receiving the franchise tag, Spencer will earn a salary of about $8.8 million in 2012.
Spencer finished last season with 66 tackles and six sacks for the Cowboys.
