Jackson gets $19 million guaranteed from Browns

Here’s a breakdown of the five-year extension LB D’Qwell Jackson signed with the Browns that includes roughly $19 million in guarantees.
The deal averages $7.7 million per season, with a $7 million signing bonus. Jackson will make a fully guaranteed base salary of $3.4 million in 2012 and can earn another $1.3 million in roster bonuses and a $100,000 workout bonus.
Jackson will make a $3.6 million base salary in 2013 that is guaranteed for injury, and becomes guaranteed for skill and capabilities if he’s on the roster the third day after the waiver period. He has the same roster and workout bonuses in 2013 as he did in 2012.
In 2014, he has a base of $2.6 million with $1 million of that guaranteed for injury if he plays in 95 percent of snaps in Weeks 12-13 (Jackson has been injured often). There is a $4 million roster bonus due on the fifth day of the league year as well as $100,000 roster bonus.
Jackson has a $6.4 million base salary in 2015 with a $500,000 roster bonus due the on the fifth day of the league year and a $300,000 workout bonus. In 2016, his base salary is $7 million with the same roster and workout bonuses. The back years of the contract include a $1.3 million escalator clause based on playing time and performance.
