Editor’s note: Deion Sanders, a Hall of Fame cornerback and an NFL Network analyst, watched all the defensive backs work out Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine and shares his thoughts.

INDIANAPOLIS — Does the NFL Scouting Combine know how to cap off the week, or what? There’s no better bow to wrap around it than the defensive back workouts.

Besides watching Rich Eisen run the 40-yard dash, this is the reason I came here.

What’d you expect? You know I’ve got love for my DBs.

As for my observations, overall, I saw some good stuff from this group of kids. The talent was pretty evident out there on the field. The athleticism was abundant. I don’t think NFL teams should have too much trouble finding fits for their teams.

Naturally, I’ve got to gravitate toward Morris Claiborne out of LSU. We already knew he could play, and the kid was pretty solid all day during drills. One minor thing about him was his body position. It was a high at times, but he’s going to correct that. He’s the No. 1 cornerback in this draft, no question about it.

If there was somebody who might contend with Claiborne for that title, it’d have to be Janoris Jenkins out of North Alabama. That he transferred from Florida because of trouble, we all know that. He’s got a troubled past, and I’m sure he was grilled about it this week. But I truly believe he’s a good kid that just made some bad decisions. Kid can play.

Lastly, I know safety isn’t my domain, but I’ve got something to say. Harrison Smith out of Notre Dame did a lot to help his draft stock today. He was just on point in every drill and had himself a fundamentally sound day.
