INDIANAPOLIS — Ravens center Matt Birk isn’t retiring, according to his agent, Joe Linta.
Birk wants to return to Baltimore, and Linta began contract talks with the team Saturday at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Birk, who will be 36 when the season begins, has been with the Ravens for the past three years. He has been to the Pro Bowl seven times, all with the Vikings, who picked him in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft.
Birk has started 16 games per season since 2000, with the exception of the 2004 campaign, when he started 11 of his 12 games played.
The news about Birk came one day after Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said safety Ed Reed would be back for his 11th season, according to the team’s official website.
