INDIANAPOLIS — The Rams undoubtedly hold the key to the 2012 NFL Draft.

No matter which QB — Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III — is drafted with the top overall pick in April, the Rams will be in complete control at No. 2. New coach Jeff Fisher didn’t shy away from the magnitude of the situation Friday.

“Certainly it will define the immediate, and hopefully, the long-term future of this franchise,” Fisher said at the NFL Scouting Combine. “We have a lot of options, and we’re going to be prepared what to do with (the pick).”

One possibility to exclude is a trade involving starting QB Sam Bradford, who experienced a sophomore slump in 2011 after being voted the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2010. Fisher was clear that sending Bradford elsewhere isn’t even on the table.

“That wouldn’t be an option, no,” Fisher said.

The Rams likely will receive trade offers — if they haven’t already — from the Browns (No. 4) and Redskins (No. 6), or perhaps a dark horse, for the right to select either Luck or Griffin. If the deal is sweet enough, Fisher said the team would be ready to pull the trigger — perhaps even before the first round begins.

“If we’re in a situation where we’ve got another member club that has expressed interest and the deal is good, it could be done before draft day,” Fisher said. “We just don’t know, but we’ll be prepared.”
