INDIANAPOLIS — As a three-time South Dakota state high school wrestling champion who went 121-1, Iowa OT Riley Reiff knows something about domination.
That wrestling background helped Reiff dominate for the Hawkeyes — which is why he’s projected to be a first-round pick in April’s draft. And who knows? That wrestling background just might be what he leans on to help his NFL career take off.
“Using your hands, footwork, I think that all correlates to wrestling,” Reiff said Thursday from the NFL Scouting Combine. “Wrestling’s a big endurance sport. Not only endurance, it’s mental toughness, too, that it brings to the football field.”
Will wrestling help Reiff’s career be a success? Time will tell.
