INDIANAPOLIS — Jason Garrett, responding to DE Jason Hatcher‘s contention that the Cowboys lack leadership, believes he has the right leaders in the locker room, although he’s always looking to acquire more via the draft and free agency.

“I don’t want to comment too much on what (Hatcher) said,” Garrett said at the NFL Scouting Combine. “We certainly had very good leadership on our team. I don’t want to go into names of our guys. You know them, they set the pace for our football team. And guys that we wouldn’t trade for anybody.”
But the question remains: Are those players the right ones for the Cowboys, considering the pace set the last two seasons has resulted in just 14 total wins? To that, Garrett would only speak in generalities.
“There are so many different styles of leaders,” Garrett said. “There are guys that are more vocal, there are guys that lead by example, there are guys who pat guys on the back, there are guys who wring guys by the neck. That’s just the way it is. That’s just the way it’s always been.”
But the kind of leader Hatcher wants to share a locker room with is the Ray Lewis type — those players who hold each other accountable. And Hatcher said that player doesn’t yet exist in the Cowboys’ locker room.
