The 2011 season is in the books, so it’s time to focus on the draft, and that means preparing for this month’s NFL Scouting Combine. Here’s the latest from NFL.com and NFL Network experts on the prospects:
» With Baylor’s Robert Griffin III garnering more and more attention, Jason Smith says 23 of the NFL’s 32 teams should at least consider jettisoning their current QB in favor of the Heisman Trophy winner. Charley Casserly says the team that actually does it should be the Redskins.
» Mike Mayock updates his position-by-position rankings, and athletic pass rusher Melvin Ingram of South Carolina jumps up the board.
» When it comes to running backs, Alabama’s Trent Richardson is the crown jewel in this draft, but he’s not the only gifted prospect. Bucky Brooks ranks his top five running backs and also picks his best receivers and tight ends.
» Brandon Weeden put up some eye-popping numbers in 2011, but the number that receives the most attention in draft circles is his age — 28. As Jeff Darlington sees it, though, one NFL team will be happy it didn’t pass on the Oklahoma State standout.
