INDIANAPOLIS — On Thursday, we discussed how the Super Bowl is all about reconnecting with past players and friends from around the NFL. I was on Radio Row talking to many people about being in the league for ll years and how you build a valuable group of friends, but sometimes you need to take time for yourself. Put the phone away, escape from Facebook, Twitter or any other kind of social media.
So, on Friday, I stopped by The Art of Shaving in Indy for the first straight-razor shave of my life and a little “me” time.
It’s a great time to reflect while sitting there with your head back. You have a hot towel and a little lather on your face and have a nice shave. You definitely sit and absorb it.
When you’re out of the league you think back about how you played often. Sometimes you have your moments of recalling a big play here or there, a fourth-and-1 when you stopped a running back on the goal line. A sack, a winning play in overtime. Anything really.
I remember a game against Cleveland during my first season with the Bengals when I came up with a big play. There was another one when I played the Chiefs, and on a crucial fourth-and-goal I made a play on the running back. I knocked him back. No touchdown.
I remember the playoffs … there are so many different things that I remember.
