INDIANAPOLIS — Andrew Luck is breathing heavily down Peyton Manning‘s neck, and all of Indy can feel it.
When NFL Network’s Rich Eisen sat down with the Stanford quarterback for an exclusive one-on-one Thursday, he heard how the words “Andrew Luck” and “Indianapolis” sound together.
“It sounds all right,” Luck said. “Absolutely. … You hear a lot of things, but, I think, like any competitive person, it would be great to be the No. 1 pick.”
Luck told Eisen about his first encounter with Manning, as an eighth-grader attending the iconic passer’s summer football camp. In more recent times, Luck heeded Manning’s counsel to play his senior season at Stanford, just as the Colts quarterback did at Tennessee.
That particular nugget of advice from Manning has come home to roost, and Luck didn’t dodge questions about what it would mean to call Indianapolis home — Peyton or no Peyton.
