Bettis as a Steeler, not a Ram? That’s crazy

INDIANAPOLIS — Jerome Bettis and I are going to get into a fight one day.
Well, probably not. He seems much too nice for such a thing. Seriously, he’s starring in a commercial poking fun at his infamous coin-toss gaffe. But every time the two of us get together, we always squabble over the Los Angeles Rams. (Like this, or this.)
This time, Bettis joined us on NFL.com Live, from Radio Row right here at the media center, with Dave Dameshek, Elliot Harrison and Jason Smith alongside me. When talking about the subject of the Hall of Fame, I asked Bettis if he would go in as a member of the Los Angeles Rams or Steelers. Bettis, for whatever reason, said the Steelers.
“Did you win rookie of the year with the Steelers?” I asked.
“No, but I won comeback player of the year in Pittsburgh,” he shot back.
All right, he has a point. I guess some people remember him best as a Steeler.
Bettis was one of just a large number of big-time NFL luminaries such as Lynn Swann, James Brown and Pat McAfee who stopped by our set. Famed comedians Larry the Cable Guy and Jay Mohr also were part of the mix.
Mohr had some breaking news when he renounced his hometown Jets in favor of his new team, the Ravens. Which is bad, but not as bad as him admitting he admires the Patriots and believes they’re going to win Sunday.
All in all, it was a great time, and an illustration why you shouldn’t miss any of the show Thursday and Friday. We’ll have a lot of big-named guests coming along, including Cam Newton, Adam Sandler and Matthew Stafford. Make sure you tune in.
