Pocket Hercules seeks ‘truth’ at Media Day

INDIANAPOLIS — During the one-hour break before the Giants hit the field at Lucas Oil Stadium, I spotted “Pocket Hercules” himself, Maurice Jones-Drew. He’s built like a rectangle.

The Jaguars running back was surrounded by a dozen or so people wearing black OCNN jackets. For those who don’t know, Patriots WR Chad Ochocinco has his own Twitter news network … or something.
Jones-Drew said he was turning OCNN into MJDTV. He added he was there for “the truth.” I have no idea what this means, though Jones-Drew did say he wanted to expose Patriots receiver and former UCLA teammate Matthew Slater, who claims he’s faster than him.
Jones-Drew was busy wearing his reporter hat, but I took the opportunity to glean his opinion on Sunday’s game.
“I think it’s going to be a good one,” said Jones-Drew, who was the 2011 rushing champion. “It’d probably be a better one if the Jaguars were in it, but we can’t have a perfect world all the time.”
I also asked him if he would talk, ahem, business with Peyton Manning if they ran into each other at one of Indy’s downtown steakhouses.
“No, we don’t dine with the enemy,” Jones-Drew said. “We’ve got a nice quarterback right now. (Blaine) Gabbert‘s going to be real good, he has a lot of promise. Before you can have progress, you have to go through some adversity, and that’s what we did this year.
“We get some weapons around him, we’ll be all right.”
