NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora and Michael Lombardi are stationed in the NFL Media newsroom Monday as they track all the coach, front-office and player movement following the final day of the regular season. Watch NFL Network and check back with this blog for the latest.
The Rams have much work to do this offseason after making the decision to fire both coach Steve Spagnuolo and general manager Billy Devaney.
La Canfora reports that St. Louis’ internal list of GM candidates includes several younger up-and-comer types. This could be an indication the Rams will look to hire an established veteran coach with a pedigree to serve as the biggest voice in the room.
“I think you have to connect the dots here,” Lombardi said. “Jeff Fisher is represented by Marvin Demoff, the only person left in the St. Louis is Kevin Demoff, Marvin’s father. So there is obviously a lineage there that you can build a relationship with.”
Lombardi expects the Rams to hire a coach first, then fill the vacant GM post. If the Rams decide to pursue Fisher in earnest, they likely will have to compete with the Dolphins, who also are believed to be interested in the former Titans coach.
