NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora and Michael Lombardi are stationed in the NFL Media newsroom Monday as they track all the coach, front-office and player movement following the final day of the regular season. Watch NFL Network and check back with this blog for the latest.
The Raiders missed out on the playoffs following a disappointing loss to the Chargers in Sunday’s season finale, so their attention now turns to getting their house in order following the October death of longtime owner Al Davis.
The Raiders will restructure their front office in the offseason. They’ve been preparing lists for weeks now, with the hopes of filling at least one personnel position and probably more. Reggie McKenzie and Elliot Wolf — both Packers personnel men – are believed to be very high on Oakland’s list. Les Snead from the Falcons and Eric DeCosta from the Ravens also are targets.
The chain of command currently in place in Oakland could hurt the team’s search, however.
“They’re going to have a difficult time getting one of those young rising star executives to take that job,” La Canfora said. ”Because there’s some concern that Hue Jackson, the coach there, his contract allows him to report directly to Mark Davis, Al Davis’ son, so how much power will that GM really have?”
