Apparently, the Glazer family decided the time is now to start fresh in Tampa.
La Canfora reports that Raheem Morris and his entire staff were let go Monday following a season in which the Buccaneers lost their final 10 game to finish at 4-12.
The team later confirmed the move.
“This was not a move that the Glazer family planned on or wanted to make,” La Canfora said. ”They bought into this idea of ‘yungry,’ a young, hungry group of players and coaches building together. But you lose 10 straight games, you’re blown out of most of them, you’re trailing 42-0 to an Atlanta team last week that you actually beat earlier in this season when you were 4-2. Everything fell apart.”
The Bucs had trouble selling tickets this season, and there’s speculation the team will attempt to regalvanize the fanbase by going for a “big fish” to replace Morris. Jeff Fisher and Bill Cowher are two potential candidates with a winning pedigree. The team previously flirted with Cowher when the Bucs struggled in Morris’ first season with the team in 2009.
“Going with another inexperienced coordinator would be a very difficult sell based on the way things fell apart here this season,” La Canfora added.
