Yes, we’re still flippin’ out over Simpson’s incredible TD

It’s Thursday, and we’re still talking about Bengals WR Jerome Simpson‘s phenomenal front-flip touchdown against the Cardinals five days after the fact.
Never mind the Bengals face a huge win-and-their-in game this weekend against the Ravens that will determine Cincinnati’s playoff fate. The first thing on the mind of “Around the League” host Fran Charles was, what many would call, the single most impressive display of athleticism in NFL history.
“It’s been pretty crazy. A lot of people from around the world, they’re talking about that flip seen across the world,” Simpson said, smiling. “It’s just a great boost for our team to help us play great in this Baltimore Ravens game and just try to make this run in the playoffs.”
That’s what you call a natural segue to move on and start talking about Sunday’s showdown, but Charles wanted Simpson to share more about his Olympic gymnast impersonation. How in the heck did he do that?
“To tell you the truth, it was just off of instinct,” Simpson said with a laugh. “I really didn’t want to get hit, but I just wanted to make a play for my team. It’s just kind of something that just happened. People say I stuck the landing. …
“One of the things I’ve been known for is to jump. I just used my natural ability that God gave me and just tried to make a play for my team.”
And, in the process, Simpson created a highlight that simply never gets old, one we’ll be watching on NFL Films specials for the rest of time.
Now, about that big game with the Ravens this Sunday …
