Three and out: Cutler to return?

Cutler having pins removed: Bears coach Lovie Smith announced Monday that QB Jay Cutler had the pins removed from his surgically repaired thumb and could possibly play along with RB Matt Forte if healthy and able to go through a week of practice. As for now, it appears that Josh McCown and Kahlil Bell will be the guys starting in those respective positions for Chicago at Minnesota on Sunday. It’s hard to imagine a scenario where a fantasy owner would start McCown, although he does have value against a Vikings defense that has been torched by fantasy QBs. Bell, however, is a much more legitimate option as a flex starter this week.
Romo appears on track to play: Despite sitting out Saturday’s game against the Eagles after suffering a hand injury, it looks like Cowboys QB Tony Romo should be able to play Sunday in Dallas’ critical matchup with the New York Giants. For all the talk of Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Drew Brees, Romo is the sixth-highest scoring QB on NFL.com and against a Giants secondary that has been taken advantage of all season long by opposing passing games, Romo should be in your lineup if he’s playing.
Kolb still day-to-day: Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb still is battling the lingering effects of a concussion, jeopardizing his chance to play in the season finale against the Seahawks. But that could help Larry Fitzgerald owners. Fitzgerald has been a much more productive receiver with John Skelton at the helm of Arizona’s offense this season. Seattle has been tough on fantasy WRs, allowing the third-fewest points per game to the position this season. As long as Fitzgerald is playing, he should be in your lineup. But in a situation where fantasy owners will want all the help they can get, Skelton starting would be a much-appreciated boost.
