Winless finish by Colts will cost Caldwell job

With three weeks to go in a winless season, the fate of Colts coach Jim Caldwell hangs in the balance.
When Colts vice chairman Bill Polian offered up a lukewarm, and somewhat convoluted, endorsement of Caldwell on Tuesday, it really was a veiled look at the truth. The Colts need to win one of their last three games for Caldwell to keep his job.
Sources close to the situation have told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora that, unequivocally, an 0-16 finish by the Colts will cost Caldwell his job.
Polian hopes it doesn’t come down to the Colts finishing 0-16 so it doesn’t come down to the decision over Caldwell. For what it’s worth, the Colts finish with the Titans (7-6) and Texans (10-3) at home and the Jaguars (4-9) in a road finale.
