I got a tweet from William B. on Monday night: “Why is the one day I bench Rivers, his best day of the season?” Because that’s fantasy football. And I should know, because I spent most of my time on Thursday’s edition of NFL Fantasy Live breaking up with Philip Rivers, ending our association for the season.
Apparently, that was the kick-start he needed to get things going.
And with a great matchup against the Bills this week, there is still some life in what was a listless fantasy season. Of course, the good times will shut down in Week 15 when the team plays the Ravens. So make sure you are prepared for that (pick up Red Dalton at once).
Rivers aside, this was a rather uneventful Monday for me. The champ had already rallied for a playoff berth in our NFL Experts league jumping past Elliot Harrison and Dave Dameshek for the fifth seed. In fact, Dameshek and I finished with identical 7-6 marks, but I beat him overall by .18 points on the season. I locked up the top seed in the AFL version of our NFL Network league, too.
The biggest bummer for me is that I won’t be able to defend my title in the Corona Football League with my lifelong friends, but that stuff happens. But let’s get this stuff off our chest. I know friend of the show Mama Dina lost her final game by a fractional point when Mark Ingram couldn’t get an extra yard. And no doubt countless others of you had your fantasy season snuffed out this week because of an injury to Matt Forte, bad performances by LeGarrette Blount, or just being snakebit (I lost four games in our Corona League in weeks where I scored more than 100 points).
Let’s get it off our chests. Consider this one big fantasy therapy couch. You’ll feel better if you talk about it.
