Here is a look at three of the top stories in fantasy football on a Tuesday.
McFadden not expected to play on Thursday: This is going to come as a shock to many of you, so I want you to hear it from me because it is so jarring, so unsettling, you might not be able to handle it. But here goes: Darren McFadden might not play on Thursday night. I know, you could knock me over with a feather right now. But this is clearly not unexpected. I recently predicted on NFL Fantasy Live that McFadden was my pick to be the biggest bust of the second half. Missing games will do that.
Mathews could play on Thursday: While it looks like McFadden is a no-go, Ryan Mathews might play on Thursday. Well, he was walking around in shorts during Monday’s practice. My guess is that he will be a game-time decision, but will end up not going when it’s go-time. I am not a medical expert or anything, I just have had my heart broken by Mathews so many times I feel like I am numb to the whole thing. You would almost rather Mathews sit out another week than him start and get hurt again. Besides, Mike Tolbert would become an excellent start if Mathews sits again.
It’s the defense: If you were counting on DeSean Jackson on Monday, realize that you are not alone. But the Eagles receiver says that it’s a matter of teams “trying to take away what we do best.” Yes DeSean, that’s what defenses do: They try to stop you. I thought that was rather obvious. Jackson’s totals are rather depressing and he no longer makes big plays downfield. Even some of you on Twitter reached out last night to say that Jackson is now moving on to your bench. Hey, that’s completely understandable. I will be working on my rankings later today and Jackson is going to be sliding down the list.
