Who should fill in for Andre Johnson?

Texans coach Gary Kubiak assured fantasy enthusiasts when he said that WR Dre Johnson was going to miss “some time.” And by assuring us, I mean he could not have been more vague. Oh well, hopefully Dre will start tweeting out MRI photos like his teammate Arian Foster did.

Browns’ Hillis to get more carries

Peyton Hillis should get more touches this week…which is the same thing that was said about Montario Hardesty two weeks ago. Huh?

Data Points: Six QBs on pace to pass Marino

Okay, so Tom Brady is no longer on pace to throw for 7,000 yards this season — but he’s still on pace to obliterate Dan Marino‘s single-season yardage mark. And for the record, we will continue to make this a weekly feature in Data Points as long as there are still a few NFL quarterbacks threatening Marino’s mark of 5,084 yards.

What a rush: Forte makes case on field for new deal

When you join Hall of Famers Walter Payton and Gale Sayers as the only Bears running backs ever to rush for 200 yards in a game, you’re big-time in Chicago.

Tough doesn’t necessarily mean clutch with Romo

Tough? We’ll give Cowboys QB Tony Romo that much. Clutch? Well, let’s not confuse tough for clutch.

Three and out: Texans’ Johnson could “miss a few weeks”

Andre Johnson’s injury might not be as serious as first thought, but it could still be enough to keep him out for a time.

Data Points: Numbers say Lions are playoff-bound

Good news for the Detroit Lions: Recent history says they now have an 82 percent chance of making their first playoff appearance since 1999. The Lions, along with the Packers, are off to a 4-0 start. Since 1990, 50 of the 61 teams to win their first four games have gone on to the postseason.

First and 10: War is hell; football is a game

There’s nothing like losing a bunch of football games in a row to make otherwise reasonable people lose all perspective. That appears to be the case for Minnesota Vikings receiver Bernard Berrian and Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell.

Playbook: Sunday night quick hitters

After watching every game on Sunday, here are a few things we noticed throughout the day.

Fantasy Feedback: Week 4

It was a “slow” week for Tom Brady. He finished with “only” 226 yards and 2 touchdowns. By contrast, Stevan Ridley rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown while BenJarvus Green-Ellis ran for 75 yards. In a close game Sunday, the Giants abandoned the run after having success early. They rushed the ball just 24 times as a team and gained just 54 yards. In Ryan Grant’s absence, James Starks hasn’t done much to earn a starting role — 10 carries, 33 yards and 5 catches, 38 yards. Rumors of Tony Gonzalez’s demise were greatly exaggerated. Through three quarters, he has five catches for 46 yards and a touchdown. Willis McGahee is steadily taking over the Broncos’ No. 1 running back job. Early in the third [...]

Stafford shells out for suite at Cowboys Stadium

Lions QB Matthew Stafford had too many ticket requests for Sunday’s game in Dallas, he had to get a suite at Cowboys Stadium.
