You would have to figure that QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is by far the most popular guy in the Bills’ locker room after putting his signature to a six-year contract that included $24 million guaranteed.
If he wasn’t already, it’s a good bet Fitzpatrick is now first on the guest list when teammates put out invites for birthdays, bachelor parties, weddings, or anything else that includes a gift.
But then there is Bills WR Stevie Johnson, surviving in the last year of his rookie contract, who has his own approach. Johnson says he doesn’t need any huge loans from Fitzpatrick.
“You’re going to have fun with him when a guy is getting paid like that,” Johnson told “Around the League” on Monday about Fitzpatrick’s popularity. “I just need $13, that’s it.”
Uh, OK, what? Only $13?
“You can do a lot with $13,” Johnson said. “You can get a lot from McDonalds, a lot from Subway. It’s cool.”
It’s been speculated that paying Johnson is one of the next priorities for the Bills. Until then, Johnson (who wears No. 13) might want to check in with folks at Subway about openings as a pitch-man. He can probably handle that whole “five-dollar footlong” thing.
We just advise trying it in the end zone.
