Three and out: Henne, Amendola done for season

Henne to have shoulder surgery: After initially seeking a second opinion on his injured shoulder, Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne has opted for surgery that will end his 2011 season. In the short term, Matt Moore has been thrust into the starting position, but NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reports that Miami is signing veteran free agent (and former Dolphin) Sage Rosenfels.
Don’t expect Rosenfels to take his talents to South Beach and immediately sweep into the starting job. That means fantasy owners will need to count on Moore, who has averaged just 122 passing yards in 23 career games. It doesn’t bode well for Brandon Marshall or the rest of the Miami receiving corps. Expect more of a reliance on Daniel Thomas and Reggie Bush for the foreseeable future.
Amendola to have triceps surgery: Just a couple of weeks ago, Danny Amendola was making noise as though he would soon return from a dislocated elbow. But his recovery was complicated by a torn triceps that was aggravated during practice this week. So the third-year receiver will have surgery to repair the muscle, ending his season. St. Louis had placed Greg Salas in Amendola’s vacated slot position, but the rookie wasn’t performing up to expectations. The loss is a big blow to coordinator Josh McDaniel‘s passing game, but expect Sam Bradford to compensate by continuing to target Brandon Gibson and Mike Sims-Walker more often.
Brandon Jacobs misses practice: For the second straight day, Brandon Jacobs sat out of practice with a knee injury. The big back missed Wednesday’s practice, but coach Tom Coughlin told reporters that he expected Jacobs back in action today. If he’s out, it means a full workload for Ahmad Bradshaw against a mediocre Seattle run defense.
