McCown on shaky ground after ugly showing

When you exit a game with a 1.8 passer rating, you can assume there will be chatter about your job security.

That’s the position Luke McCown finds himself in Sunday night after an epically rough performance against the Jets.

McCown was 6-of-19 passing for 59 yards and four interceptions before being mercifully replaced by rookie Blaine Gabbert in the fourth quarter of a 32-3 loss.

In his postgame presser, coach Jack Del Rio didn’t quash speculation that Gabbert (5 of 6, 56 yards) is about to take over for the 1-1 Jaguars.

“I guess the immediate next question is, ‘What are you going to do going forward?’ ” Del Rio said. “My answer is that we’ll discuss that as a staff.”

The options aren’t pleasant for Del Rio. Do you go with the green-as-a-cucumber rookie or the hopelessly inept veteran? Somewhere, David Garrard must be smiling.
