Veteran safety Darren Sharper will be among several players working out for the Broncos on Tuesday, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.
Sharper, 35, is a former Pro Bowler who most recently worked out for the Patriots and starred for the Saints in their Super Bowl season. The Broncos are dealing with a host of injury concerns and will be looking at several running backs and at least one defensive lineman on Tuesday as well, according to a source.
It’s very unlikely Sharper signs with the Broncos, as the workout is more for down the line in the event of an injury. Sharper is being very selective about what he does — he turned down two offers earlier this summer, according to sources — and is waiting for the right opportunity. So even though Sharper does have ties to the coaching staff in Denver, don’t look for this visit to end with a new contract.
Thomas Clayton, who worked out for the Dolphins last week, will be among four running backs working out for the Broncos. Knowshon Moreno, who has been oft-injured during his brief NFL career, is currently battling a hamstring injury and is questionable this week.
