While Rex Ryan slept soundly in his king-size bed last Saturday night — just hours before the Jets’ win over Dallas — his running back LaDainian Tomlinson was seen huddled asleep on a hospital bench in Morristown, N.J.
In a show of fatherly commitment that would have left Antonio Cromartie dizzy, L.T. put football on hold as he and his wife, Torsha, welcomed their second child and first daughter, Dayah Lynn, into the world.
The Tri-State’s newest Jets fan was born Saturday at 9:16 a.m. ET, following a mostly sleepless night for the Tomlinsons.
“He insisted that he would be the only one driving his baby girl home (on Sunday) from the hospital,” Torsha told the New York Daily News. “I was very proud of him. He showed up on Sunday in more ways than one.”
L.T. then put his stamp on the Cowboys, catching six passes for 73 yards in a display that proved he’s far from done. It caught Ryan’s attention, who believes that even when Tomlinson finally hangs it up, he remains a potent threat to win one of the nation’s more beguiling talent shows.
