Giants’ Rolle, Steelers’ Taylor hit with fines

One of biggest fines handed down from the league office for Week 1 went to Giants S Antrel Rolle, who has been fined $20,000 for unnecessary roughness.
According to a league source, Rolle speared an opponent with his helmet. He was called for a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty for hitting Redskins TE Fred Davis helmet-to-helmet during the fourth quarter of the 28-14 loss in Washington.
In addition to the $15,000 fine levied against Steelers safety Troy Polamalu, CB Ike Taylor was fined $15,000 Friday for unnecessary roughness for unnecessarily head-butting an opponent on a run play. In the same game, Ravens LB Brendon Ayanbadejo was fined $15,000 for unnecessary roughness for a horse-collar tackle on a special teams play.
Also, Patriots S Patrick Chung was fined $7,500 for unnecessary roughness on a helmet takedown of Dolphins RB Reggie Bush on Monday night.
