It’s no secret the Saints and QB Drew Brees are talking contract. After Peyton Manning got his, and Tom Brady got his, that left Brees — in the final year of a six-year, $60 million deal that he signed in 2006 — next in line.

Mike Triplett, who covers the Saints for The Times-Picayune, told NFL Network on Thursday that he expects the expected at any time.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened this week; I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened next summer,” he said. “It’s a deal both sides know is ultimately going to get done at some point.”
