Lombardi appreciates evolution of Belichick

Some people don’t look too far in the past, and they know Bill Belichick only as a three-time Super Bowl championship coach with the Patriots. But things haven’t always been peachy keen in Belichick’s career.

There were humbling beginnings in Cleveland, where Belichick posted a 36-44 record as the Browns’ coach from 1991 to 1995 with one winning season. During that span, NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi worked under Belichick as director of player personnel.

Lombardi explained Wednesday on “Around the League” how even back then, when wins were hard to come by, he didn’t doubt that Belichick would become the success he is today.
