Ex-Cowboys center Gurode to visit Lions

Former Cowboys center Andre Gurode will visit the Lions on Friday, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

The Cowboys cut the veteran Monday, pointing to his age (32) and salary, along with his decision to have knee surgery so late during the offseason. Gurode, who was a healthy scratch in the Cowboys’ preseason game against the Vikings last week, was due $5.5 million in base salary this season.

Adding to the situation surrounding Gurode, a Pro Bowl pick last year, was that he was outplayed by second-year pro Phil Costa, who has impressed coaches and owner Jerry Jones.
