Uninspiring performance for Garrard, Jaguars

The two series that Jaguars QB David Garrard played in the preseason finale against the Rams on Thursday night were rather forgettable. While the handful of reps most starters are getting in preseason games like this hold little meaning, they still do for some. So we had a close eye on Garrard and the Jaguars.

Not much went right. Garrard completed only one of his five attempts, for 11 yards, and he was sacked once and hit several times. When he was yanked following the Jaguars’ second series, Garrard’s body language made it obvious he didn’t want to come out of the game, and he exchanged some words with coach Jack Del Rio on the sideline. Garrard also motioned off the team medical staffers who wanted to look at him after he took a hit on his final play.

Maybe Garrard knows what was on the line tonight. Luke McCown was up next in the Jaguars’ rotation, playing with the second-team offense.
