Johnson a safer selection in fantasy football

One of the biggest questions in fantasy football has been answered.
Chris Johnson, one of the elite runners in the league, has signed an extension with the Titans that adds four new years to his contract and will keep him in Tennessee through 2016. CJ2K will now see a little more than a week of practice time before facing the Jaguars in Week 1. An explosive veteran, he should have little problem getting back into playing shape and scoring points for your fantasy football team.
The fact that he’s back on the field is clearly a positive, and makes him a much safer pick in the top three in drafts. In fact, you can now make an argument that he should be drafted No. 2 overall behind Adrian Peterson and ahead of Arian Foster. Despite the fact that he expects to be ready for Week 1 — he’s even tweeted an MRI image of his hamstring — Foster’s ailment is still a cause for at least some concern.
Also, keep in mind that Johnson has one of the most favorable schedules at the running back position based on fantasy points, facing the Texans (2), Jaguars (2), Colts (2), Broncos and Bills among his easier opponents. I would still take Javon Ringer as insurance in the late rounds, but don’t pass on Johnson in the top three.
