Haynesworth, Ellis make debuts with Patriots

The much-anticipated debuts of Albert Haynesworth and Shaun Ellis became official Thursday night in Foxborough, Mass., as both were in the starting lineup in the preseason finale against the Giants.

The Patriots starting defensive front was Ellis, Vince Wilfork, Haynesworth, and Andre Carter.

The Giants fumbled on their first play from scrimmage, sending QB Tom Brady and the rest of the starters out for the Patriots. Wes Welker was not part of the group, although it was a jumbo personnel package for the Patriots. Welker, who didn’t practice during the team’s lone session this week, returns after suffering a neck injury last Saturday against the Lions.
