First and 10: Follow the action

Back to football, indeed. Five more preseason games Friday night after five last night. Veterans returning to action, rookies having their first taste of NFL games. Data Points: Dominating differential

There are 28 days until the 2011 season kicks off with a Thursday night game between the Saints and Packers. And 28 also is the turnover differential recorded last season by the Patriots. Their plus-28 differential — which included a minuscule 10 giveaways — is tied for the third-best in NFL history.

Data Points: Sanchez in shaky company

The countdown to kickoff of the 2011 season is at 29 days. And 29 is where Jets QB Mark Sanchez ranked last season in completion percentage among starting quarterbacks. Sanchez completed 54.8 percent of his passes in 2010.

Three and out: Colston’s knee a concern

Marques Colston is missing practice time as he recovers from knee surgery, and it’s starting to be a cause for concern in fantasy land.
