Lions cut starting fullback Felton

The Detroit Lions informed part-time starting fullback Jerome Felton of his release Tuesday morning, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Today is the deadline for teams to trim their rosters to 80 players.

Felton, a fourth-year pro, is a quality fullback, but the Lions are taking their offense in a different direction and keeping more tight ends.

Felton made 16 starts during his three seasons in Detroit, including two in 2010.
