The agent for Bears RB Chester Taylor, Ken Sarnoff, said Monday that the team had yet to contact him and would retain Taylor for the 2011 season.
Earlier today, Sarnoff said Bears coach Lovie Smith informed Taylor that he will not be with the team this season.
Taylor was just signed to a $12.5 million contract a year ago as a free agent that included &7 million guaranteed. He has been unhappy with his playing time of late — he was held out of the Bears’ preseason loss to the Titans Saturday night — fueling speculation that he could be among the team’s cuts.
The team announced Monday that it waived five players, including DE Vernon Gholston, LB Tanner Antle, C J.C. Brignone, DT Tank Tyler and QB Trevor Vittatoe. Chicago’s roster is now at 80 players.
