Seahawks cut former 49ers first-rounder Balmer

The Seahawks have released defensive lineman Kentwan Balmer, according to a league source.

Balmer was a 2008 first-round draft pick (29th overall) by the 49ers. Balmer has experience in a 3-4 and 4-3 base defense, is healthy and eager to catch on elsewhere. Balmer had been seeing time in practice with the Seahawks’ first-string defense.
